Well, looks like one of 3 things:

1. Saddam is dead

2. Saddam is critically injured.

3. Saddam is too chicken to come out for a live broadcast, or even a remotely adequate current but taped video.

My bet is #2, and his minions, who only have power vicariously through Saddam, are still strong enough to stay in control.

If it were #1 it just seems like those still in command would do something besides what we're seeing.

#3 doesn't seem likely, but then again, a live video would take guts as it would be very risky to his well being...

I sure hope we don't make the mistake of pronouncing him dead only to have him prove he is alive and get some sort of PR victory out of it.

Anyone out there up on the biblical end time? How does this sound:

- Saddam is the modern "king of Babylon"
- He has a critical or even supposedly fatal head wound
- We pronounce him dead
- He comes out alive and says he rose from the dead...

Food for thought.
