It definitely sounds like 3rd Division has got it cranked up again and is heading north + they've got a whole lot of Marines and the 101st riding shotgun. There are reports of a substantial US troop build up in the Northern Front. If the Adnan division is retreating south the USAF would probably be hitting them pretty hard. Imo the trap is close to being sprung.

The best of Iraq's conventional forces, five Republican Guard divisions, have now been identified gathering south of Baghdad for what looks to be the decisive battle of the war.

It does sound like Saddam is really, really, doing this. What an idiot! If he wanted a "Baghdadgrad," he should have pulled them into the city and dispersed them in the buildings. Run the tanks in though the back and poke the guns out the front. Made us dig them out or leave the city in ruins.

This "Strategy" means that by the time our Air gets done with these Divisions, we could mop them up with a Regimental Combat Team.
