J, Again, I agree with you completely. The case for removing Saddam regime from power should stand on its own, and not be done with the excuse of WMD. There was already a security council resolution demanding human rights in Iraq. The US could have demanded "Human Rights Inspections". But it didn't. My conclusion about that is that it did not want other countries demanding enforcing Human Rights resolutions on Israel treatment of Palestinians.
