I think I understand why the NYSE dropped Al Jazeera, but I don't think its a very useful policy.

As I understand it, they were dropped because they showed dead Americans and presumably they have an Arab bias. I did not expect anyone would object to the dropping........ the NY Times article surprised me.

When it comes to al Jazeera and Qatar, we seem schizoid. On one hand we praise Qatar for its moves towards democracy and al Jazeera as an example of that move but then we condemn al Jazeera when it presents views of the war from its own perspective.

And what's true is that every media outlet has its perspective, even bias........look at FOX and MSNBC. Both are pro American but that's like saying a chicken and an eagle are both birds. Maybe all the difference we can tolerate is the kind that exists between a FOX and a MSNBC. al Jazeera apparently is too foreign a species.

BTW the head of the NYSE is very conservative in his viewpiont........that might explain al Jazeera's eviction in part.

Just heard on CNN that Saddam has also kicked Al Jazeera out. This could be interesting...
