And I do disagree with your statement that nothing good comes out of killing

No one says that one should not fight a war that is initiated by others. Or there can be no reasons for a just war.

Here we are initiating the killing. In defiance of international laws, norms, and opposition.

If Saddam was indulging in the slaughter of his people, the international community would have easily and quickly supported this "war."

We started this as a pre-emptive war justified by 9/11. About 50% of Americans believe that Saddam was involved in the 9/11 attack even though that is a lie.

It's dangerous for a superpower, nay, hyperpower to engage in unilateral, pre-emptive invasions. Now every country in the world that does not fully subscribes to Washington's views feels threatened. And they will all be trying to obtain WMDs. We have started a whole chain of events that will lead to more instability and more wars.

As for civilian casualties, the UN had estimated 500,000 . Let's hope that the number proves wrong.

Time and history will tell us how this invasion works out. I believe that this invasion is a big mistake. For Iraq, America and the rest of the world. The anger, hatred, resentment and frustrations unleashed by this war will be with us for decades. As will the killing.

We have entered a vicious cycle of violence. And it will claim its price in American blood and treasure. An incredible waste of our most precious resources.

Let's hope I am wrong.
