An Iraqi man who was forced to work as a body double for Saddam Hussein's eldest son was detained at Birmingham international airport by immigration officials yesterday. Latif Yahai, who was made to have plastic surgery so that he could pose as Uday Hussein, was taken into custody after arriving on a flight from Germany. The former soldier was on his way to Northern Ireland to appear on a TV chatshow when he was questioned about his travel documents. He was later released and sent to Dublin where he now lives.

Mr Yahai was returning from Munich where he had been speaking out against the Iraqi regime and recounting his experiences.

During his time as Uday's stand-in, Mr Yahai was shot nine times in assassination attempts. He fled the country after the Gulf war and was granted asylum in Ireland.

remember though, the Iraqi people do not want to be liberated.
