I don't know where you got that idea. Arafat is meaningless. He is done as a political leader. Any other great ideas? I asked because I remember having a discussion here with someone who was in support of israel, and I have learned from my personal dealings with israelis, that they are so endoctrined against Palestinians (or arabs, generally) based on what I suppose is the constant tension in the region, that their judgement wrt international relations tends to be flawed. Fine if that wasn't you. So tell me, what exactly is it about Saddam Hussein and the iraqi regime that makes him seem like a more significant threat to the US than say, the Sudanese government or Nigeria or any one of hundreds of dictatorships around the world. If you have proof of some credible threat that exists to the US as a result of Saddam Hussein then by all means put it forward. Notice I did not mention any humanitarian issues because like much of the US, I don't feel iraq is worse to its own people than say, China- and since I don't want to go to war with China I can't see any justification for this war on humanitarian grounds. That leaves the chemical weapons threat... that may or may not exist (looks like it doesn't). Whether Arafat is done or not was not the point of my last post, as I am sure you are aware. Of course Arafat is done or near done, he won't live much longer anyway. The point was that I want the israelis to go back to the negotiation table with whoever is in power over there and cut out the agression- personally I think the US should cut off israeli aid until they start to cooperate.
