He was 46 and died here in Bangkok having contracted the disease in Laos or Cambodia, I'm not sure.

Company messge received today:
The government yesterday ordered foreign visitors arriving from countries affected by SARS to wear masks constantly while here. And locals at risk of having been exposed to the disease discovered to be flouting the 14-day self isolation rule may be detained in leprosy camps at the air force army.

Public Health Minister said, foreigners (including tourists and business people) arriving in Thailand from affected countries would undergo "careful medical check-ups" at airports and seaports. Anyone suspected of having the illness will not be allowed into Thailand, and will be sent back home.

The government on Tuesday ordered a 14-day stay-at-home quarantine for Thais returning from SARS-affected areas (China, Vietnam, Hongkong, Singapore, Taiwan), even if they display no symptoms. Those who failed to isolate themselves could be forced to stay in leprosy camps. Violators also face six months in jail and a Baht 10,000 fine. If anybody find people who have returned from the high-risk countries but refuse to stay home. Police will take immediate action against them.

Regarding to the strict rule above, today the company ordered 5 local employees who just came back from SARS-affected area to stay at home in order to self monitor on SARS. If anybody is experiencing in Flu symptom please see the doctor and inform HR immediately. For any employees, visitors or expatriates who have planned to travel to or back from the SARS-affected areas please postpone your trip until the situation reduced. I will keep u update on SARS situation all the time.

For all employees, please follow thru the SARS communication pack that I sent u previously.

Due to Mask N95 is out of stock worldwide. Thailand might get a fresh supply of masks in May. We are trying to find them for our employees who got affect from the above rule.
