New Testament Theology - Vol I, "The ministry of Jesus in its theological significance." Vol II, "The Variety and Unity of the Apostolic Witness to Christ."

Doesn't sound like "historical realities" or "data" to me. Do you have anything more scientific?

Some isolated, simple, illiterate people with no scientific or literary understanding whatsoever hear the stories and for some reason re-orient their lives toward what resonates inside them from those stories.

Possibly because they are "simple, illiterate" (i.e. relatively ignorant) people "with no scientific or literary understanding whatsoever"? And hence they have a tendency to believe in stories they are told without proof?

I consider that re-orientation the best evidence of faith.

So do I. It just doesn't make me want to believe myself. I am not simple or illiterate. I have a fair understanding of the sciences and literature. So I need a bit more evidence than illiterate people believing in stories without evidence.

Let me know if you read the books, because I look for people to discuss them with

I would really appreciate if you direct me towards a more analytical book. Then I will be happy to read and discuss it with you. That is, "theological significance" of "the ministry of Jesus" is a bit early for someone who sees no proof that Jesus was no more than a normal, albeit intelligent and wise, man about whom stories were written in the mystical parlance of his times.

No offense intended. Just my honest thoughts on the subject.
