Did you read in the article, She was in "stable" condition, with broken arms and a broken leg in addition to the gunshot and stab wounds, sources said. Other sources said both legs and one arm were broken.

washingtonpost.com

I personally was in the Navy for 11 years AE-E6 on the USS Midway, when I checked out. I had been in during the end of the Vietnam War and can claim to be a VFW. During my training and with OJT, I learned to understand what to expect with war injuries. I was also trained to support the MedExs with emergancy medical injuries (in case needed, mainly cleaning and preparing the injuried). A gunfight does not in itself explain broken arms and legs, besides the gunshot and knife injuries.

IMO
