I would agree with you if the EU "founding fathers" were mostly farmers too. Number one, farmers and anyone else who deals with nature closely have greater wisdom than average city slicker. Number two, the few intellectuals within them would have to debate their ideologies free for philosophical baggage. Somehow I don't think this is the case for EU. More likely they adopted everyone's ideas instead of the common denominator.

This is exactly why it is such a good constitution. If it was too restrictive and not open to interpretation, then it could not have moved with the times.
