If you like deficits, high national debt (currently at $120,000 for every man, woman, and child in the country), selling missiles to terrorists, and the largest crony capitalist anti-free-market bail-out in the history of the world (S&L bailout, currently over $500 Billion in cost... pushing upwards of $1 Trillion before all the bonds get retired. See 'national debt' figures if you want to know where most of it went to), then he's your guy!

On the other-hand, he was certainly right that taxes on America's people were (and are) too high, and that the government sector of the economy was (and still is) growing too fast compared to the rest of the economy.

Too bad he never had the guts to cut the wasteful spending necessary to balance the federal budget, and too bad he never had the guts to do the total reform of our tax system necessary to remove all the market-distorting crony-capitalism subsidies and corporate welfare loopholes.

Perhaps he never had enough political power to do what was necessary... and perhaps in his second term he just ran out of steam and ideas as the deficit soared and choked off growth... but that's no excuse for those who followed who profess follow his ideology, and yet are even further from running a responsible free market-based ship of state.

Bush I at one point had 90+ popularity... and yet 'fiddled like Nero' and ran up the worst economic performance since WW II.

Bush II is currently overspending worse than LBJ... and earning the title as "Biggest Overspender" ever.
