It wasn't ST's post, it was Bernard Lewis'. And I think you've confused the point, which was that there was nothing inherent in Islam that favors totalitarian governments, traditional Islamic governments are limited. There is a lot in every Islamic movement that defines itself against the West, for holy war and self-defense, call it as you will. Dar al Islam vs. Dar al Harb.

As I said before, if you disagree, find a counter-example.
