I'm not as concerned about smallpox as some others, particularly food/water borne bios.

I agree with your concerns (but I don't ignore the Smallpox threat),

The solution to food problems is to have an ample supply available. The Ready.gov website recommends a 3 day supply. In the event of a major disruption in our food supply, where are you going to get food on the 4th day? My family has a much larger supply...One quick solution. You can buy rice in 50lb bags at Sam's Club for $7.38 here. Get a couple and match it with beans and you have it.
