Whats amusing to me as a CDN is the fact that Quebec had their sites on the US as their big time partner when they seperated from Canada. Quebec wanted to seperate primarily in the interest of protecting their french culture. I could not understand how they wouldn't realize that seperation would be their cultural nail in their coffin.

The core of our problem with Canada seems always to be the same. The French minority.

A lot of Canadians agree with you there. My Canadian relatives tell me that the Anglophones who have been fleeing Montreal for Toronto (& there are lots of them) are advised by their friends to change their license plates upon arrival - at once! - before their car is defaced. Some who didn't listen regretted it.
