"I say there are other, more reasonable, less biased, possibilities. For example, supporting Israel selectively, but not in building more settlements into Palestinian territory. And decreasing the amount of funds available to Israel for military purposes."

It was all on the table in 2000, the PA leadership took a pass and began to employ terror tactics instead.

..."Am I supposed to know that?" Of course you know, you just won't say.

Zionism at its root rejects religion.

The "father" of political Zionism, Theodore Herzl (1860-1904), ... was a Viennese, emancipated, secular journalist...

It seems a bitter irony that a movement that initially saw itself as progressive, liberal and secular should find itself in an alliance with, and held to ransom by, the most illiberal reactionary forces. ...

Nowadays the deliberate blurring of the distinction between Zionism and Judaism, which includes a rewriting of ancient as well as modern history, is exploited to stifle any criticism of Israel's policies and actions...

I fear that unless and until Israel is judged by the same criteria as other modern states (ET- as zionists originally proposed), this is unlikely to change.
