why it matters if Saddam is alive..

it matters because if Saddam is alive or not captured, his regime still has 'legacy' or legitimacy. i can't believe that the government expects us to blindly believe it doesn't matter if he's alive or dead.

it matters to his friends and especially his foes in the whole area. Ask a repressed Iraqi how he feels that Saddam is still alive. Ask some of his loyal troops how they feel that he's still alive.

he has to be dead or captured.

the government is just putting on a brave face. Unless they know the tape was faked, they'll have renewed incentive to invade Baghdad. And we should really avoid that. i don't trust that Saddam didn't booby trap Baghdad with suitcase nukes. Even if Saddam is alive i still don't want our troops to enter Baghdad. i just hope Meyers and Franks haven't changed their minds.
