<<Tojo was assassinated by US P-38's>>

I take it as you specified "US P-38's" these were not the accurate Walther pistol - unless there is something not documented about a US factory. Was then the "P-38" then the twin boom airplane or the GI can opener? If it was "death by can opener", then wouldn't it really have been an indirect death in fact caused by eating the canned Japanese Sushi equivalent of our C or K rations?

Tojo was assassinated by US P-38's during the war against Japan .....

You gotta' be kidding!

Tojo tried to commit suicide by pointing a pistol at his heart and pulling the trigger when US personnel came to get him at his office. Somehow, his aim was off, perhaps due to some obstruction/deflection by rib or due to last-second nervousness. The bullet missed his heart by a hair. (Some reports had it that he had marked on his uniform the spot where he was to place the muzzle of the pistol.)

After he recovered in hospital, he was tried, sentenced and hanged for his war crimes!
