Just heard that Michael Kelly, one of my favorite columnists, who was embedded with the troops in Iraq, was KIA today. You may remember my recent discussion of his dispatch from the war early this week. I think this is the first embedded reporter we have lost.I feel like I have lost a friend.

Washington Post is now reporting that the reporter killed today in Iraq is Michael Kelly, the Atlantic Monthly editor-at-large and Washington Post columnist who abandoned the safety of editorial offices to cover the war in Iraq, has been killed in a Humvee accident while traveling with the Army's 3rd Infantry Division.
