Coming Out of the Closet

MPs in Swaziland say the state-run radio station’s “Man in Baghdad” had
been broadcasting from a broom cupboard in the Swazi capital of Mbabane,
when he was supposed to be in Iraq.

Phesheya Dube gave the “live reports” purportedly from Baghdad, as program
host Moses Matsebula frequently expressed concern for his well-being and
once advised him to “find a cave somewhere to be safe from missiles.”

After Dube had “gone missing,” Matsebula told listeners: “Fellow
countrymen, it looks like our correspondent in a Baghdad cave has been
bombed and I have been trying to locate him to no avail and I am asking
for your prayers so that you cannot lose such a good reporter.”
