I don't think the empire lasted long enough for that to happen. I am sure they would have been very good leaders, of an army in particular.

p.s. I walked around several of the Roman installations in Cumbria UK. Near Hadrians Wall. It is absolutely amazing what the Romans achieved. Mind boggling! Even just the road constructions are incredible. Just for horses, carts and men. Real organization.
