Oracle reported $1 Billion option expense total for FY01 and FY02 (after-tax per SFAS 123). That was 21% of GAAP net income.

Stock options were obviously issued to some.

ellison is very good at big picture stuff. and he has it right here. its very difficult to make a buck in software or ANY tech, without a defendable moat.....
