Credibility: When the Pentagon says we "destroyed" an entire division, what does that mean? They rarely explain. It doesn't mean killing or incapacitating 10,000 men. It doesn't mean destroying all the weapons, artillary, tanks, etc. It seems to mean nothing more than destroying lines of communication within the division, and not necessarily all lines. But the word "destroy" is carefully chosen to give the impression to those satisfied with merely listening that the division is eliminated.

A second credibility issue surrounds the false numbers of allied, enemy, and civilian casualties. These numbers are manipulated and often delayed in order to give the most favorable impression to Americans. The numbers do not coincide with reports from independent sources.

A third credibility issue involves the meaning of the word "control." The word is used to signify that there is no more organized resistance in a given area, even though there still may be plenty of resistance, and no soldier in his right mind would walk down the streets without protection.

These are the key words used in official briefings the pentagon. That's why I no longer believe anything I hear from these guys, and neither should any prudent person.
