Actually, I am no fan of the UN or the types of people who populate it. I realize that the UN would probably never have taken decisive action against Iraq. I am not against the republicans or democrats or the USA. I am against political systems that allow themselves to enrich themselves while doing the bidding of powerful lobby groups.

Rwanda was Kofi's darkest hour.

I have read recently that Clinton was aware of the situation and had instructed his aides not to use the term genocide when referring to the situation. Theme: If we didn't know it was genocide, we couldn't be faulted for not acting in time to stop it.

How many special interest groups benefited from having legislation added into the Homeland Security bill? Some added at the very last minute to avoid debate. Same "Your either with us or agin us" tactics. Either you vote for the HSB or you are unpatriotic. Never mind the foul taste of the added legislation that benefitted a select few.

My point in posting was that regardless of the party in power, the US is quite selective in choosing who they decide to save or liberate. If one is to claim to be a liberator or the saviour of the weak and abused, one has to be consistent in the actions taken to fulfill the claim.

I am not seeing that consistency in history regardless of the party in power in the US.

Please excuse me for being somewhat emotional when making some of my previous points. I have only recently (past few years) begun to look more deeply into the power centres of the world. What prompted this was becoming a full time trader on the markets and seeing what Wall Street did to the investing public.

I couldn't believe that it could be allowed to happen in the first place let alone go mostly unpunished, beyond a few wrist slaps and fines that did not nearly match the loot extricated from the scams.

Man was I naive. I read a few books including Arthur Levitt's new one and realized that Wall Street has a powerful lobby in Washington to protect their interests.

I started digging into the activities of lobbyists, political contributions and pork barrel politics. Found very bad stuff. I'm not an idiot so why didn't I know about all this? Like most people, I was too busy earning a living and furthering a social life to notice. Just like the rest of the public.

I realized that politicians are compulsive liars (as deception is the root of power), and that J6P is a compulsive believer. The constition is an incredible document, but it goes mostly ignored in todays US.

Hence my rage against the machine. I can't do much to change it, but I feel a little better after venting.

I'd sure like to see less bickering between the left and the right and more focus on the real problem.

Have a good weekend.
