The Issa Tragedy

verdad,

<< What's the population of Iraq? 25 million? >>

That's about right. Possibly larger after we colonize it.

<< It's hard to believe that any company would want the potentially negative press that comes with attempting to directly benefit from a controversial war. >>

It's hard to believe. As a Qualcomm shareholder I was hoping that a direct link with Qualcomm or the Qualcomm lobby would not be established. Unfortunately it took less than a week to determine that Qualcomm's lobby approached Issa and his staff and TOGETHER they drafted a letter that they had to hastily attempt to bury and rewrite, to Secretary Rumsfeld and USAID.

<< Marketing. >>

Marketing? Who needs marketing? The technology speaks for itself.

<< It could be NOK folks who seem to be drawing everyone's attention to this event to embarrass QCOM. >>

Nokia folks didn't need to call anyones attention to this event. By writing a letter filled with inaccuracy in a blatant attempt to draw publicity and play unjustifiably on anti-French and anti-German sentiment Issa and Qualcomm lobbyists focused the worlds attention.

Not too long ago I was complaining about Qualcomm "Marketing" (Qualcomm and their lobby) taking out TV ads in Singapore in an attempt to lobby Singapore administrators and regulators to allow 3G services in 800 MHz spectrum (used for other purposes) instead of in the IMT-2000 core spectrum at 2.1 GHz because their wasn't and still isn't a CDMA2000 solution available to trial in the IMT-2000 2.1 GHz core.

That was small potatoes in retrospect.

Best,
