You think so? I was fallowing the news closely and at the time was thinking that if PQ did not separate and I were to run in English Canada, I'd make it my platform that if elected I'll kick Quebec out. I still think it is in Canada's best interest to kick them out. What in the world do they contribute which is worth all that trouble? Somebody should add up the costs and benefits of Quebec over the past 30 years.

the fact remained that a breakup would have been an equally damaging situation to both parties in the dispute.

My favorite story about Quebec's attempt at a breakup was when the gave the Airlines an ultimatum, and told them they would have to speak French to the Montreal Control Tower. The idiots that came up with that did not know that all control towers in the world use English. The Airlines told them they would quit landing in Montreal in that case, and an embarrassing silence ensued.
