Re: black diamonds -- can't say, I've never seen one, only black DLC.

Section 2.3 has an excellent table of diamond treatments. For example, black diamond can be produced near surface by ion implantation. Blue is caused by boron impurity, which can be faked by irradiation with gamma radiation.
