Saddam wouldn't broadcast live obviously due to the security risk. So the question is when the tapes were made. Even the Iraqis don't claim it is live. Then the second question is whether the guy is Saddam or not. The two most recent tapes were both clearly since the beginning of the war and the opinion is it is Saddam as his doubles never do any talking apparently as he is difficult to imitate. So Saddam at least survived the initial attack and presumably is still alive and healthy (though he could be in Syria though most think that tape of him outdoors was filmed on the day it was shown). This is what I mean by the coalition disinformation - intended to demoralize Iraqis but gets reported as fact in the Western media outlets.
