Didn't some pencil neck from western provinces kinda run for the same thing? And I may be wrong, but wouldn't Quebec's borders be reduced to what they were before they joined? And wouldn't a sizable portion of Quebec population (read non-French) move into the rest of Canada so the the population loss would have been a lot smaller? And in the end, wouldn't Quebec be obliged to maintain good relations with its neighbor so the economic costs in the long run would not have been too grave?

I am not being argumentative, I am just rehearsing my platform :-)
