Qatar Calling Reverent, conformist, that is the Arab media. Most of the networks are controlled by the political powers-that-be and rigorously censored. The Qatar satellite, Jazeera, on the air round the clock, is an exception. Its openness, disregard for authority and sheer quality make it everyone's favourite network. by David Hirst en.monde-diplomatique.fr

A somewhat clumsy attempt by the US media-military complex to diffuse Judeo-Protestant spiel into Arab/Muslim public opinion. How does it compare with our Belgian broadcaster RTBF enjoying access to Santa Claus? Every Xmas season, Belgian kids are offered TV interviews of Santa Claus in his Finnish HQ.... Al Jazeera is basically about churning out US propaganda with an Arab face --and a touch of anti-Americanism (those Arab viewers are not THAT dumb, after all!) Merry Xmas, Gus
