Like Saddam Hussein's henchmen, Josif Stalin's killers, the Nazi private armies, etc., the Marxist/Leninist, anti-American Democratic left CANNOT ACCEPT that the voters roundly rejected them in 2002. Instead, they have talked themselves into the MYTH that, "We didn't get our massage out.", and have proceeded to CONTINUE the obstructive practices that brought them disaster in 2002.

Unless there is a turnaround in the attitude of Democrats-especially in the Senate, they are destined to make a very bad bargain for themselves: Obstructing as many actions of the Bush administration as possible, and prolonging the economic slow-growth/recession for the rest of the current Congressional session, in exchange for MASSIVE and comprehensive defeat at the polls in 2004.

What will occur in the event is that their obstructive crusade will begin to gradually fall apart throughout the current year and accelerating into 2004, since George Bush and his team have shown surprising capability at defeating them on any issue. So the net result is they that will-for the most part-FAIL to obstruct in 2003/4, while banking the general BAD WILL of the people, who will express that rage in November, 2004.

That is why I speculate that the 200-year-old Democratic party is at a critical point in it's life, and may not survive...

Whistling past the graveyard! Just remember to keep talking about the war and don't mention those 21 straight months of job losses. Don't mention that Bush will be the first President since Hoover to preside over an economy with a net job loss.
