>>Here's more Powell going crazy<<

Fence mending. Good for him. You know he's speaking the party line here.

I know some people are going to argue "to the victor belongs the spoils" -- including, maybe especially, people in the Defense Department, Republican members of Congress, and major Republican sources of campaign funding -- but we aren't in this for the plunder.

Bush said it and Powell is repeating it.

Consider the source. I think Powell is getting taken out of context.

story.news.yahoo.com

>> Powell is seen as favoring an international role in post-war Iraq, but his comments reflect the influence of Washington "hawks" such as Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites), who do not want to see the United Nations ushering in France, Germany and Russia, all of whom opposed the US stance on Iraq.

Powell has been cautious during his visits, saying that the extent and nature of a UN role in post-war Iraq was still under consideration. <<

It's no surprise that Syria would take part. There is a big pipeline running across that border, after all.
