I think it is more true that those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it- which is the great Santayana quote that everyone gets wrong. (and that would be an "opinion" not a "fact" just as "yes well it certainly is a fact of history that those who cannot live in the present are doomed to repeat the past ...." is actually an "opinion" and not a "fact".) I have found history majors to be fascinating, and frequently very prescient. How on Earth did you form such a negative impression of history majors? I have a negative impression fo business majors- because the ones I met were dicks- but I cling to the hope that I simply met duds.
