I don't think we've done much in Afghanistan for the Afghanis. Are you trying to use it as an example of a "success" or simply of an "invasion" in the cause of human rights? If you recall we didn't invade to help them- we invaded to destroy Al Qaeda. And we aren't going to be able to help them- because we're already promised far more to Iraq than we can deliver, and the bad news is, some people in the world believe us about those promises we made.

If you can't use standard definitions, you cannot communicate. Those who cannot use definitions, take up the defensive position that they are not necessary. But definitions are far from minutiae. If one person in a conversation does not understand the meaning of the words he is using, his arguments may be rather odd- as when the issue of "torture" is confounded with the issue of sovereignty, when, in fact, they are unrelated. I'm sorry if you find the meanings of words threatening. It would be more productive (imo) if you simply learned their meanings, and moved on.
