Who do you think was behind their killings?
Sorry, the 60's I meant.

Do you think such things are impossible now? Granted, Secret Service security is much better, but even so --

I always wonder what right-wingers think about this, truthfully. I mean it's 40 years or more ago so we can all be honest about it. Saturday night conspiracy theories?

Did you see the film JFK? Most of it is fact, though conclusions are admittedly theoretical. And Oliver Stone like many combat veterans of that era does not exactly trust the hawks in the government.

PLATOON though was probably the greatest war movie ever made. It's great symbolic power was having the right-wing warrior against the left-wing warrior, Barnes vs. Elias, cowboy versus Indian, drinkers versus pot-smokers, country-western vs. rock n' roll. In the 90's I thought all had was behind us but now it's back, isn't it? The divided country once again.

And next Bush versus Kerry probably. War versus peace. Middleclass versus rich corporate interests. Clean energy versus oil. Progressive optimists versus pessimistic hawks (which is more realistic?) and the deficits versus the cost of the huge military machine. Could be a very close race. Three or four things will decide it.
