Doug, that's an interesting parallel. But if we look at the fortunes for individual companies, rather than for an entire sector, we may be able to pick out good growth candidates, even if growth for the sector is only modest. That's essentially my investing strategy--pick companies that are likely (because of products, services, and management quality) to do better than the average in their sector, but which appear undervalued against other companies in that sector.
