I don't know when the naz had less than 3000 listed companies, my records don't go back that far.

The Forbes article I just posted said there are an estimated 10,000 software companies, both public and private.

Yet two years into the biggest bust in high-tech history, an estimated 10,000 public and private software companies are still in business.

we have gone from 5000 companies on the naz to the 3000s ... we have the same # companies as early 1980s
