The Pentagon may decide to keep the 3rd Mech's elements in central Baghdad, even though it started out as another show of force. That would be consistent with an earlier statement that Baghdad will fall from the inside out. If they stay, the lengthy securing and examination of the underground portions of the facilities can begin, while the 3rd gets reinforced, and strikes at multiple angles at the greater Baghdad area. The down side is that resources would have to be committed to supplying them by armored columns running from the airport, cutting down the resources for clearing wider areas. My estimate: FOX caught them on TV taking the palace. They won't be pulled out. The anti-American left used to prey on the general ignorance about fire-base tactics in Vietnam (Fire bases were intended to draw the enemy in, and were abandoned once he was destroyed. The domestic traitors-and their lap dog media-proclaimed the end of each fire base operation to be a "retreat". These insidious bastards haven't changed at all-believe me. There is NOTHING new under the sun in THAT war.) Downtown Baghdad will be held regardless of its strategic value (which is not insignificant)-so the contemporary traitors can't play the fire base game again...
