Our guys spent a lot of blood, sweat, and tears taking the place. Give them a few moments of victory. It won't change anything.

Not disputing the blood sweat tears at all. Our guys are also disciplined enough not to do something like this.

Heard on TV that the US flag never went up on the palace. A soldier wanted to do it, was over-ruled by the commanding officer, and finally hoisted it on his tank - which is perfectly acceptable.
