It's a short squeeze, pure and simple.

I'd also attribute the allies' clear victory in Iraq to be additional incentive for the long side, although that should wear away through the month.. the fact is that besides for oil prices dropping as a result of the Iraq war, the effect that the deficits and spending on military will have on the US economy will catch up to them.. certainly not on earnings.

Looks like that the usual plays are still the valid ones - short the S&P, long the treasuries, long the Euro...

Anyway, I took a position with the Euro, 1.0610.
