That is an act of war Doug...Baghdad did not recognize the no fly zone.

Doug, you can't control the ground from the air. You can control the air from the air. To control the ground you need ground troops.

Doug. You said...." One way would have been to incrementally extend the no-fly zone until the areas under Baghdad's control was shrunken to insignificance. Then help to establish democratic rule in the increasingly larger area outside of Baghdad's control. Give this area a name...market it...just like marketing a war."..... You mean like colonize parts of Iraq? So you think it is ok to kill a few iraqi's at a time and stretch it out over years and split up iraq in different sections? Oh yes and in the meantime sadam continues to murder, torture and rape the population under his control. Just how would your plan work if you consider that all iraqi's are scared stiff of sadam and his band of merry killers. In your plan there would of course have to be borders with the good guys on one side and the bad guys on the other side....so just what would give iraqi's on the bad guys side enough courage to try to cross that border.....like an East Germany kind of thing.?
