I tend to think of internals as leading - that they would deteriorate in advance of a big decline.

Sometimes they do lead. Most of the indicators I use only work 60-65% of the time. That's why I look at lots and also why I am wrong on a regular basis.

I will say though that some of my best indicators worked exactly opposite to the way I thought they would work before I tested them statistically!

Paul, equity put/call ratio is now about 0.48. Here I agree with the conventional wisdom that we would not expect a huge rally from here with a number that low.

By the way, I just read your profile. I think I should be asking your opinion and advice rather than me telling you what I think (g).
