SDI and Patriot are two very different systems.

You know nothing about this subject.

Patriot's software systems were almost totally developed as part of SDI. The missile itself is almost incidental, and was never intended as an anti-missile missile.

SDI uses laser beams.

SDI uses anything that can shoot down ballistic missiles. from lasers to particle beams to rail guns, but mostly at this point missiles.

We have many types of missiles like the Harpoon that take can out incomings.

That harpoon is an anti-ship missile.

SDI is Star Wars, renamed by the GOP.

No renaming involved. SDI or in full the Strategic Defense Initiative is its original and actual name. "Star Wars" is a nickname given to it by those who don't support it.
