But then you would have to be objective to agree...a characteristic which you do not posess. Actually, I may surprise you. I agree that some of these things occurred while Clinton was president. That, in no way, makes him responsible for them, or even makes him a contributor. In particular, budget surpluses did occur, and crime reduction, which naturally follows lower unemployment. But I have to disagree about "relative peace" and "unprecedented wealth": a) There was "relative peace" ONLY if you consider appeasement of Saddam Hussein as a peaceful act. And only if you consider a war against Kosovo, in which we had no national security interest, a peaceful act. And if you consider the god-awful military failure (directly caused by the incompetence of Clinton in trying to micromanage the military) of "Black Hawk Down" a peaceful act. And if you consider Clinton's turning his head to avoid confrontation when he had two chances to capture bin Laden a peaceful act. I (and many others) consider these to be horrible military failures that contributed to such subsequent events as 9/11 and the current war with Iraq. b) Unprecedented wealth? Where do you find it today. REAL wealth doesn't flit away into the air the moment the pumpers leave office. There was no "wealth". There was "paper wealth", "inflated wealth", "false hopes and dreams". That's it. It was artificial wealth created by a master illusionist, and when the illusion was over, there was no wealth. In fact, only a few kept their "wealth". The vast majority lost most of their wealth, with some of the "wealthy" (from Enron and Global Crossing) watching their wealth turn to nothing. Where is the "wealth" today? As I said, Clinton did very little correctly. Enough to be better than Carter; but even Carter was honest, although incompetent.
