Premium Feature Package Allows TiVo Series2 Subscribers to Easily Stream
Digital Music, Photos Through the Home, Schedule Recordings Via the Web

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
TiVo Inc. (Nasdaq: TIVO), the creator of television services for digital video
recorders (DVR), today announced that Home Media Option(TM) is now available
for purchase by TiVo Series2 subscribers. The premium feature package promises
to transform TiVo from a digital video recording device to an entertainment
center that allows entertainment lovers to effortlessly enjoy video, digital
music and photos throughout the home.
"Home Media Option is a natural extension of the TiVo service, providing
TiVo Series2 subscribers with an easy way to enjoy their digital media
throughout the home without interfering with their ability to record and watch
their favorite shows," said Brodie Keast, Senior Vice President and General
Manager, TiVo Service. "Our approach recognizes that the PC or Mac may be the
best place to store, organize, manage and protect your digital media, but the
living room is the best place to enjoy it."
Home Media Option can be purchased for a one-time fee of $99 by TiVo
subscribers with Series2 DVRs. Activating the package on additional Series2
DVRs within the home will require a one-time fee of $49 per unit. Home Media
Option is a basic software download, sent by broadband or phone line to any
TiVo Series2, and can be purchased online at www.tivo.com.
Once Home Media Option has been downloaded to the DVR and activated at the
TiVo website, the DVR will be capable of linking over a network with either
Apple or Windows PCs. Applications necessary for completing this network link
to the Mac or PC can be downloaded from the TiVo website once a subscriber has
completed the TiVo activation process.

Home Media Option: Key Features
Home Media Option will fit into virtually any home network, making it easy
to incorporate into new or existing, wired or wireless networks (802.11b). Key
features include:

-- Broadband Remote Scheduling
With a broadband-connected Series2 DVR and Home Media Option,
subscribers are now able to remotely schedule same-day recordings of
their favorite shows from wherever they have access to an Internet
connection. TiVo subscribers can now schedule recordings from
www.tivo.com and these changes will be relayed to their specified TiVo
DVR in less than an hour, allowing for same day recordings.

-- Enjoy the entertainment you want, anywhere in your home
Home Media Option allows subscribers to stream digital music and photos
from their computer to their Series2 DVR, without requiring users to
give up or partition the recording space on their DVR. With the TiVo
remote, subscribers can relax in the living room and view digital
photos and listen to digital music that is stored on the Mac or PC. And
with multi-room viewing, programs recorded on one Series2 DVR can be
securely transferred to another in the same household.

New Service Update for All TiVo Series2 Subscribers
As part of a regular service update, there are a few new features that
have been added to the TiVo service that all Series2 subscribers will receive
separate from Home Media Option. These include enhancements to the "Now
Playing" list, giving consumers the ability to group shows together by title,
and to sort them either alphabetically or chronologically. In addition,
broadband connectivity will be enabled through existing USB ports on the back
of the DVR, allowing Series2 subscribers to eliminate the need for a standard
phone line in order for their DVR to connect to the TiVo service to receive
regular service updates.
