elmatador,

No, "Chemical" Ali is gone. The Iraqis in Basra confirmed that, as well as British field officers. The guys at the top may choose to be cautious in their choice of words for now, but Ali is gone.

Saddam and his two sons are a different story though. It's much too soon to know for sure if they were in the targeted structure, and even if they were there, it is still possible that they escaped the bombing, or left before the bombing actually occurred. However, if they were in the building when the bomb hit, it's not likely that they survived. We'll have to wait a bit on these guys before declaring them dead. I suppose that it's also possible that if they are dead, Iraq might surrender as early as tomorrow, in which case we might get a definitive answer on their welfare.
