George W. Bush was put in office by wide scale voter fraud committed by Florida Secretary of State Kathleen Harris, under the direction of his brother, Florida Governor Jeb Bush. Harris hired Database Technologies (now the DBT Online unit of ChoicePoint Inc. of Atlanta, into which it merged last year) an RNC-linking consulting firm to create a list of citizens who should not be able to vote due to prior felony convictions. The companies $4 million contract dwarfed that given to the previous provider of these services, who did the same job for $5700. For their money, Harris got a "scrub list" of 57,700 names. However, 90% of those scrubbed from the roles should not have been; half of those on the list were black. Most were confused with other people-they were not the people who committed the crimes. Others were scrubbed for crimes that were committed in other states and then had their voting rights restored-by federal law, Florida cannot take these voters rights away. Others were listed as having committed crimes in the future, sometimes as late as 2007. However, Harris and other Florida officials repeatedly stated that they wanted a "wide-reaching" list and blew off these concerns. The result: at least 25,000 black voters improperly scrubbed from the polls, with no legal recourse available in time to allow them to vote. Multiply this times a 65% voter turnout by black voters on election day 2000, and consider that 93% of African Americans who voted chose Al Gore-the result if massive and conscious voter fraud that erased about 15000 Gore votes. Even if half of non-black voters scrubbed from the list had chosen Bush, Gore still would have won by several thousand votes. Given the obvious poor quality of the work -- delivered at 700 times the previous cost -- one may conclude that Harris either made a very bad decision, or got the exact result that she wanted. All evidence -- especially her reaction and that of other high Florida officials when concerns were brought up both before and after the election -- points to the latter. Harris and Jeb Bush knowingly engaged in voter fraud and should be serving long prison terms right now. If George Dubya Bush could be shown to be complicit in this plan, he should join them. The Florida result should thrown out due to this fraud. Details of this fraud can be found on journalists Greg Palast's Web site here and here. This was followed by the Supreme Court ruling to stop the recount -- a recount that Al Gore would have likely won. This was the first case in history that the court said should not be used as a precedent for other cases. Last but not least: Gore won the popular vote by 500,000. If Bush believes in democracy, what is he doing in office?
