An excellent leading economic indicator: businesscycle.com Re. earlier comments about economy - the consumer is a necessary ingredient for recovery, but not a sufficent ingredient. Unlike most economic downturns, this is the first one since WW2 to be caused by business. Unless we see increased investment and job creation by business, the economy will flounder at best or go into recession (or the big D) at worst. I am not optimistic given the groupthink mentality of big business - from grow and borrow (what got us into this mess)groupthink of 1990s to cut, shrink, outsource groupthink (what may keep us in this mess for extended period of time)of 2000s.
