But, in the context of the road map, were Syria to stop supporting terror, we would expect that Mr. Bush will become less reluctant to lean on Israel over matters like settlements in order to achieve a comprehensive Mideast peace. Cynics - Arab, Israeli and American, justified by Middle East history - quietly laugh at the road map.
