A friend of mine is film maker (not Hollywood type) a few years ago he discussed his latest project with me. It was about a man who joins a certain ideological group. That ideology believes that there are no colors. They make that view sound scientific with a lot of psuedo-science like "it is only your reflex to the outside stimuli...color is just in your head" and so on. The problem our hero has is that he is a painter. He has to live with the reality of color. He tries to follow the doctrine, but that only creates problems in real life for him. In the end he becomes an outcast and is eventually killed by his fellow ideologs for rejecting the party line. It kind of reminds me of some people in this crowd. They believe there is no such thing as consumerism or that the "invisible hand" is the be all and end all in happiness and prosperity and social values. But they have to deal with the reality out there which doesn't buy this view...and there in lies the problem.
